Welcome to my world, Pat.  Couldn't run the AC with no alternator, but for me the breeze was comfortable.  I never run AC on the runs, anyway.  I had the same problem with the FRS radio with windows down, too.

The run was vary good, except for the occasional truck slowing us down. But my AC gave out before I reached Asheville, so it was kind of warm. I couldn't hear my FRS radio at all if I opened the windows too much.
I left fairly early Sunday morning for home, hoping to beat the heat. I did not succeed.

In October of 2016, I drove to San Antonio, sans AC.  I drove to the 35th, sans AC.

Ghe sunroof is quiet, and really cools things down.  Unfortunately, the shade is in there, and I can't figure out how to remove the shade, without removing the glass.

There are two ways that I know of to remove the shade without taking the glass out.

1.  Cut the shade into pieces.

2.  Push the buttons to disconnect the flip latch from its base then slide the shade out the back onto the top of the car.

Well, the last time I had that out, it about did not go back in.  The glass gave me a lot of trouble, and I worried that the glass would fly off.  So, the shade has stayed.

I would like to thank everyone who participated, and those who worked to make this event happen.

Every now and then, my wife imparts her point of view on something, and I thought I'd share this one.

As we were looking at RFTH pictures my wife commented about the shirts.  Usually, I purchase a shirt for myself for a Fiero event.  At the 35th, my wife was one of the photographers.  She wore whatever she wore, but nothing Fiero-related.  Last night, she told me that she had felt like a nobody at the 35th, and that people basically ignored her.  I felt very badly about this, of course.  I did purchase a shirt for her, for the Tyler Shipman show, so she does have that, now.

At the time I purchased the shirts, my thought was that she really did not like being asked about Fieros, and would rather be left alone.  Little did I know, being left alone and being ignored are different.  No one wants to be ignored.  Somewhere along the line, my wife decided to participate.  No, not by having her own Fiero, but by being part of the event.

Now, I guess there are several take-aways:
  • Apparently, we, as Fiero owners, are not inclusive to other people
  • Having an event shirt is a good idea for all attendees

And I have been remiss in mailing your RFTH 24 shirt.  I will get it in the mail in the next couple of days.  Fewer shirts sold this year than last year, too.

No worries.  Fewer shirts?  Odd.

Is there any flexibility in moving the date for this event in the future?  I know of 3 conflicting events.

I would be in favor of a date change, too. This year, the timing was wrong for me. This event was on the last weekend before the end of the quarter, and we were crushed at work trying to get stuff out by the end of this week.

This month has been very odd with how the dates fell.

RFTH coincided with an event for NEFA, NIFE, MFF, and something for 2 other Fiero clubs.

Changing the weekend may or may not help, but doing it on a date, just because it has always been on that date makes no sense to me.

I think the third weekend selection originated in part due to kids in school and so everyone could make their vacation requests ahead of our announcement of the event.  Some people in early years had to request vacation time many months in advance and often we didn't start our thread until maybe July.  One year I wasn't told where they wanted to do the run until about July and had to scout and do all the planning in a couple of months.  That's when Melanie and I went every Sunday with a Rand McNally Atlas and probably ran The Dragon at least a dozen times before the event.

That's dedication!  Did it get old, after that many times in a row?

Anyone else notice how much better their Fiero is running after RFTH?

The Fiero likes regular driving (4-5 hours), and being put through its paces.
