My Fiero does not seem to be any different from before RFTH.

Anyone else notice how much better their Fiero is running after RFTH?

Yes.  As I previously mentioned, my calculations for fuel MPG on the way home was 40MPG.  I guess all those 5000 rpm shifts blew the carbon, soot, cobwebs, rat and birds nests out.  My Fiero acts and sounds happier and I am definitely happier.

I think it is your new battery

In that case I think I might keep it.

I think you forgot to include a fill-up.  Maybe the 2nd one in Burnsville?

MPG for RFTH:
27.8 on the way up.
18.4 where I squeezed a whole 1.4 gallons into my tank
25.9
31.9
28.6 on the way back, and another
26.0 when I filled up today.

But you have a 3.4 and I have a lowly 2.8.

All of us filled up at the station next door to the hotel before we left.  Scott had about the same total mileage as I when we arrived in Braselton and I don't know what Roger had.  Jason and Jordan dropped off earlier at their exit.

I just plotted our route on Google Maps and it indicates 164 miles from the hotel to the RaceTrac.  I do doubt the MPG so right now I'm planning to try to get another 150 miles before fillup.  I may be walking at some point.

Scott, how many gallons did it take you to fill up?

Rather than risk damaging your fuel pump, you could just fill the tank up as usual, and keep calculating your MPG.

Oh, my local MPG is always in the low 20's.  I actually get up into the high 20's while out on the run in the twisties.  I don't understand that as I'm usually running in 3rd gear most of the time.  It's been that way with every Fiero I've owned.

Watching the instant MPG, I've discovered that it is not what you'd expect.  Sometimes, I get good MPG in stop-and-go traffic.  Sometimes bad MPG going downhill.

Today, I drove into Atlanta and back.  I had a little more than 170 miles on the odometer, so that tells me the last fillup at Braselton was correct.  The tank was full when I left the RaceTrac station.

Today, my gauge was nearing 1/8 tank and I stopped here in town and filled up.  The MPG average was 18 MPG.  All my driving since returning from RFTH has been within 15 miles, so there was no interstate driving.  The 18MPG is somewhat near what I normally average around here, locally.  Even if I averaged the two tanks at 40 and 18, I would have gotten 29 which is a reasonable MPG for highway driving.

I usually average high teens in local (mixed) driving.
The first leg of the trip home from Asheville to the Racetrac yielded ~24-25 MPG. Best I've ever gotten with the car, in its current configuration. (Allante intake and 5 speed.) That's as good as I ever got with the the 4T60E.

If you jumped 10 feet high, I would endeavor to jump higher.  If you cojld hit 9 moving targets, shooting from ghe hip, I would endeavor to hit more.  If you got 50 MPG, I would try to get more.
