What to do with "KERMIT"
« on: May 23, 2019, 08:06:00 pm »
As most of you know I have whats left of Whodeanies Kermit car. I'm strongly considering putting the wheels and the fastback panels on my 88. If I can duplicate the windshield conversion I will do it too. I will take some pics tomorrow of the windshield setup.

I bought the 88' notchback in Tennessee 6 years ago and brought it back on a tow dolly. It was originally a 4 cylinder automatic and was converted to a series 1 3800 supercharged using a kit from a company called ACE. I have all the paperwork from the conversion. I've never had the car running and driving but did drop the cradle when I first got it and replaced a few mounts and ran all new hoses for fuel, cooling and transmission. I have occasionally put Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders and spun it over till the oil pressure comes up. I believe it will run once I put on plug wires and belts etc. For the life of me I can't remember if I dropped the tank and cleaned it but the fuel pump does run when the key is turned. If you are not familiar with Whodeanie and the Kermit car I believe the search feature will get you some info.

The car has the "Rear Hips" kit from Fierofiberglass. The left side hip has been installed and I have the other hip and the pieces that go on the doors. All of these pics are from the Fierofiberglass website and the first 2 are the actual car that I have. Unfortunately I don't have the side scoop quarter panels shown in the pics.

The first picture supplied by Scottb. Notice the Aerodonamic car in front of it. I have that car too but will have to sell it to do this build. Not so much for the money but because of my limited area to park cars. Fierofool offered a place to park Aerodonamic but the cost of all the insurance on all my different cars is getting up there.

I don't have the rear bumper like the one in the pics but do have a F355 bumper that I believe is from Fierofiberglass.

I suspect that kissing Kermit wouldn't turn the frog into a prince.  ;)

Maybe swap wheels/tires from Kermit to the '88.  Then get the '88 running.  Then maybe think about body panels.  The paint on the '88 looks good in the pics.

It's a very poor gold spray over the original red. I would need to strip Kermit of the usable parts and send it to Fiero heaven due to storage constraints. It would be much easier to store the panels than the whole car.

Someone rattle-canned the '88?

Dean's fabricator "invented" the GT hips. Most of those pieces (hips, rear bumper, and front bumper), were sold to Fiero Fiberglass by Dean, if I remember correctly. At least the hips and the rear.

Personally, I like the look of the base 88 notchie, compared to the Kermit pieces, but that's just me. Everyone has their own preference.
I have an 88 notchie, too, so I'm a bit "partial". It will be receiving a 3.4 DOHC, at some point. And very few body mods.

Don't let the Aerodynamic car get away. All I'm going to say about that one, just now. ;)

I agree on the Aerodonamic car.  It's almost part of the club.

Just so I get to see the Aerodonamic car, idea away.  It'd have been cool to have met Don, but that ship sailed.

Not rattle-canned but not a whole lot better.

The roof does look a bit dark, and I'm not a fan of painted belt trim.

You know, a notchie might not look bad with the wing removed and replaced by the edge lip spoiler,  along with the decklid scoop and the hood vent like on the grey car. Paul Angel has all that except for the edge lip spoiler (If that is the right way to describe it).
