WTB: Gas Tank
« on: June 15, 2019, 05:34:09 pm »
Looking for a clean gas tank in Georgia or nearby.

This is for an 88 GT, but my understanding is they were all the same.

Please post here or PM me with location and price.

Thanks in advance!

The '87-'88 tanks were larger than the earlier tanks, by 2 gallons.

I have two in '88 parts cars. Come take your pick & pull it yourself (I have tools) for $150, or if you're a club member for $120.
I'm near Commerce.

@GTRS Fiero - Thanks for the information

@Tha Driver - Thanks for responding. Do you know the condition of the tank? I've pulled a few and all turned out to have extensive rust issues. Could I pay you to remove the tank if it's in good condition?

Both cars were running. One is in the warrior car, which burned the top of the engine. I don't think it got down to the gas tank. The other is in a wrecked car that was hit on the side. It's been sitting for several years.
I don't have time to pull it. My helper may be able to, but I haven't talked to him in a while so I don't know if he has the time (wife & two kids).

The engine fire didn't get to the fuel tank.  I don't think it even got to the filler hose.  It's pretty well insulated by a metal panel.  The sending unit and fuel pump are also probably good.  It's unknown how much fuel he had in it when it caught fire but he had been driving the car for 2 years at that time.  It may not have much rust or trash in it.

3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Thanks @Fierofool, that sounds like the one to get, and I'd need the sending unit also.

Paul, would you please check with your helper and see if they'd be willing to pull the tank? If so, let me know how much, and how to pay. If not, I'll come and pull it. Thanks

Just heard back from my helper & he is too busy. I'll explain more in person if you come by.
Thanks,
