Suicide doors on a Fiero
« on: June 26, 2019, 11:23:44 pm »
I've seen several Fieros that have them.  Since my door is damaged, I'm considering various options.

Has anyone driven a Fiero with suicide doors?

I've never driven one, but I've seen V8 Archie's chop-top Stinger in person. It's kind of nice, but it looks like a bunch of trouble to do.

You could try sitting in your Fiero backwards and reversing to get a rough idea!

Yeah, that is one way to do it, but not what I did.  I got a ride in a '32 Chevrolet Classic with suicide doors.

I think scissors doors may be more to my liking.

Seems suicide doors may be of some aid in getting out and in.  The only thing I have to help me get out is to place my left hand on the door sill for assistance to get out.  With a suicide door, the door itself would be available to help one lift themselves up.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

After mostly driving my truck, it is very different getting into and out of the Fiero.  Gravity usually helps me fall out of the Fiero.

That's why I use the door sill.  Keeps my face from hitting the pavement.

There must be an issue with my method.  My head would seem to have already passed the sill.

The doors on those older vehicles are somewhat more flimsy than those to which I am accustomed.
