Yes, just 1 but it was at about 70 miles into the run.  My concerns were for the 4.9 and 3800SC cars, but there were other stops available, just not planned stops.  Should anyone have felt they couldn't make the full trip, they could have stopped.

I try to plan as few stops as possible because it sometimes takes time to get everyone back together and on the move.  The larger the group, the more difficulty.

Yes, gasing up a large group takes time.  Years ago, we drove a few hundred moles as a caravan.  There were over 100 vehicles in the caravan.  We divided them into groups, with a leader in each group.  We made at least 2 fuel stops, each way.  As I recall, we were required to report topped off, and the stops divided people across several gas stations.  The even-numbered groups used stations on the right side of the street, and the odd-numbered groups used stations on the left side of the street.

I thought we fueled up twice.  Once at the convenience store that was packed with cars and the second time with only two pumps with access due to the dude on the rolling platform painting the overhang.

The 3800SC Fieros usually get about 22MPG.  The 4.9 can get that, as well.  Maybe not for either, if they put their foot into it a lot.

You're correct.  We did.  I forgot about the Shell station in Burnsville.

Were the stops closer than 150 miles, then?

Ah.  Otherwise, your Fiero should do better than 200 miles on a tank.

Out of curiosity, how do you tell when the battery has run down?  Volts below 9?

Since my alternator wasn't charging, the voltmeter was reading voltage in the battery.  When it got down to around 6 volts we would change it.

We kept communicating on the radio as to everyone's fuel level and my battery level.  I knew I could make 150 miles on fuel and the GPS was telling me it was a little over 160 to my house.  The last stop for me, Roger and Scott was about 164 or thereabouts on my odometer.  The battery still had enough power that Scott's car had no trouble starting with the partially discharged battery.

We had filled up at the station beside the hotel.  When we filled up at the last stop, I only needed 4.1 gallons and I packed it to get 4 gallons.  I'm still doubting it, but the MPG calculations said I got 40 MPG and at times we were running over 85 MPH.

85?  Downhill, with a tail wind?

Where was the 85MPH calculation done?

The calculation was done from the drivers seat of my 87GT by looking at the GPS display and speedometer as we were headed south on I-85 in SC.  :)
