Yes.  It's voluntary to bring a Toy-For-Tots.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

No collections were made there, so I took my toy to my local Publix store and put it in their box.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

I have a doll that I'm taking to the store tomorrow.  I thought there was someone else that brought a toy.  Thought  saw it sitting over with the other gifts.

Maybe we didn't organize this as best as possible.

Is it beneficial for the club to do this, as part of the Christmas meeting?

It's just a caring thing.  There is no credit or recognition given to the club.  This year I, and a couple of years in the past, Mel and I have failed to bring a toy to the meeting but dropped toys later at one of the local Publix Stores collection points.

I meant, there are only so many things the club can do.  Between all the things to organize and coordinate, maybe it is too much to take this on, also.  The people who are going to give apparently give separately (and independently).  There are hubs everywhere that collect for this charity.  Here, most of those hubs are at the places where the toys would be purchased.  It seems odd to buy something, walk past a collection hub, then hang onto the item, later dragging the item to an artificial hub, so that someone else can be tasked with organizing and collecting the items to take back to a hub.  Rather than add another hub, would it be better to just let people drop items into the box at the point of purchase?

I'm not meaning to belittle any efforts, but maybe I'm missing something.  It seems as if every toy store, technology store, and grocery store collects.

The collection point in our area is Publix Grocery Stores.  They do sell some toys, but not a great variety.  The collection boxes are then transported to a central warehouse where the Marine Corps handles sorting and distribution.  There may be other collection points, but Publix seems to be the one most publicized.
