And a salute to you, Sarge.  For doing it not once, but multiple times in the different branches of the US Military.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Thanks to all who have served in the military, to the people who died while servicg, and to those families who gave up much that others could serve.

How carrier sailors have fun...

It always amaised me that with the large overhangs on a carrier that the didnt just flop ever.  They look so top heavy and they have so much structure above the water line.  As strange as it may seem When I was in the Gulf I say a carrier took swells over the brow when a destroyer took none.  The swells were huge but there were no waves.

My theory is that the carrier is very large, and meant to stay mostly level.  A swell should not cause one end of a carrier to lift.  Bad for planes.  A destroyer is small, and designed to move with the swells.

As for tipping over, height is not always weight.  There is a lot of low weight.  There is also displacement.

Tell your theory to the pilots that try to land in high seas.  In heavy seas thats why the launch on the rise of the bow.

Was there something I posted to which the pilots would object?

Having been on a carrier, I can tell you that they do rock in bad weather. Actually very pleasant for sleeping, but not good for planes.

Of course, they rock.  As I stated, it is bad for planes.  The ocean is much larger than a carrier.  But a little water over the bow is by design.  If the carrier rode the swells like the destroyer, no plane could land on or stay on the deck.

Having stood at the aft end of the flight deck in what appears to be calm seas,  it is amazing to watch..... first you see nothing but sky, then the horizon, then sky, etc..... but your mind is telling you that the ship isnt moving....... and I have seen water over the flight deck
