Has anyone run across the rocker's hitting the top of the valve covers on the 2.8????  I got mine apart and every rocker arm was hitting the top of the valve covers.. you can see the nice clean wear marks....

I can't say that I've ever seen that. Are you useing the thick rubber valve cover gaskets?

And the bolts should have shoulders on them about half their length.

Rick installed a .458 lift cam in his and used 1.6 roller rockers and we just knew they would hit the valve covers, but they didn't. I don't know what would cause it.

You don't think it could be where the oil is washing the valve cover when it squirts oil out of the rocker arm hole? Or does it look scracthed or scored?

Thats what I have, same CAM & Roller rockers.. I always heard this ticking noise since they were installed 33,000 miles ago & I kept saying it sounded like the rockers hitting the valve & every one else they cant... I don't know

no... It's wear marks.. 2 marks the same width as the rocker arms all the way down both valve covers.. The first thing i thought of was the oil hitting there

hmm....I don't know. You might have to make a plate to space the valve cover up. Maybe take an old valve cover and use it as a template... ???
