May Club Meeting

May is rolling right around the corner. Our meeting date would be May 9th which is 16 days away. Assuming the Duluth Diner is back open then, are we wanting to gather under the circumstances? Feedback is appreciated.

The state is allowing restaurants to return to inside dining, as long as they follow required safety and sanitary guidelines.  I haven't seen anything regarding those guidelines.  They may not allow a group of our size to be seated together.  It would be interesting to see the requirements.  If anyone can find them, please post them here.

Should they be too restrictive for our group, if Scott is willing, we could hold our meeting at his shop.  That way, we are only with people we know and trust to not come out if they are endangering others.  Food could be ordered for delivery or pickup.  There are at least 3 project cars there that groups could get into. 

I have a digital thermometer to test everyone's temp before they enter.  Masks could be worn if the club wants to require them.

How close do you have to get to check their temp?

It's a contact thermometer against the temple or forehead.  Arm's length, or it could be laid on a table for each person to self-test.

Probably need disposable gloves for each person, too, so aren't catching from touching thermometer.

How accurate is it at that distance on people?

Also, 98.6 is running a fever, for me, and I know other people whose normal temp is 3 degrees lower.  Surely people there, too.

I think they're supposed to be held 8 to 12 inches away.  My normal temp is 97.4 to 97.6.  Most folks our age know what their normal temperature is by now.  Any temperature more than 2.5 to 3 degrees above normal should be suspect.

The point-and-shoot thermometer, aimed at your forehead, will read up to a degree lower than an under-the-tongue thermometer. It depends on what your forehead has been exposed to.

I got the feeling this is a "soft" opening, small business only, no large crowds, not really business as usual, things like hair salons and tattoo parlors that can see one customer at a time.

Yes.  My barber has 4 chairs.  They have a church pew size bench on either side of the waiting are plus 4 chairs.  They are only allowing a person in each barber chair and 1 person on each end of the 2 benches, maximum at one time.  All equipment will be sprayed down with an aerosol disinfectant between customers.  She didn't tell me what personal protective equipment will be used. 

I'm fortunate that she lives near me and I can go to her home.  I wouldn't be concerned to go into her shop with those standards in place.  But I would be afraid to go into a restaurant, not knowing their standards.  Kemp has set some occupancy restrictions but I don't know what they are.

Im not worried about the virus, but if anyone is the shop is big enough that 30 people can be in there and stay 6 feet apart. Everyone bring a can of Brakeclean for sterilizing purposes (that stuff kills anything).
