Deck Lid Torque Rod
« on: June 12, 2020, 08:42:31 pm »
I am in need of a deck lid torque rod for a lid with a spoiler.

Mine snapped yesterday. Almost cost me a pair of pants.
You can't fix stupid but, you can adjust it with a 2x4.

Were you driving when the rod broke?

Yes, I was driving. It sounded like a bowling ball hit the car!

Well, at least I wasn't the only one.

Hope you find a set.

I have a set, that came off of a GT, so they should work.  Contact me at carnut122@aol.com if interested( I don't check in here very often).

The tension should be able to be adjusted.

I'm glad you were able to get the stain out. Usually those big stains are hard to remove.

The tension should be able to be adjusted.

The torsion rods can be adjusted, but supposedly there were about 3 different sizes of torsion rods that were used.  Variations in decklids are Notchback plain, Notchback with luggage rack, and Notchback with spoiler.  Then you have the same combinations for the Fastback decklids.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

No stain(s). I did say almost.
Adjustment has nothing to do with it. The rod clearly snapped.
I will need the one that has a light coat of WHITE paint on the ends. Not red or blue.

Got my blocks of wood, boards and tie-down straps at the ready!

The GT that was at ENCORE Salvage is gone. No hope there.
I'll check with Scottb and carnut122.

Thanks!

There is a way to release the tension on the rods, from what I was told.  The guy did his about 20 feet from me, but I was working on something else and did not see.  All I recall was that there was one particular bolt.
