Integrated Wing Stands?
« on: July 13, 2020, 10:18:50 pm »
This is the old wing off my white car. The top side is in very bad condition, which is why I replaced it. Notice that it has integrated wing stands. Have any of you ever seen one like that before?

It also does not have the two grooves.

I have seen those, but it's been a while.
It is aftermarket. Maybe A&A fiberglass? Did the holes line up?

JC Whitney used to sell Fiero body parts, including spoilers.  I met a kid on Northside Drive in Atlanta that had converted a bumper pad to a GT body style.  All the GT panels, plus the dual exhaust.

Pat, do the mounting holes match up with the factory locations in the deck lid?

No, I had to drill new rear holes for factory wing stands, and patch the old ones with Vette Panel Adhesive/filler. The front holes were OK.

Is there an advantage to integrated stands?

I have one in my garage.  NOS still in primer with the gaskets and bolts in a bag taped to it.  Instructions are by A&A specialties corp.

That begs the question: what was the intended application?

Mine is labeled as "Universal Wing" no mention of fiero, but it is obvious what it is.  Also back side is smooth, no indentation. I picked it up at godfathers customs closing sale a few weeks ago.

It may be my eyes, but your stands don't appear to be as angled as TopNotch's.

Mine is distorted in the picture from the wide angle shot. TAD's looks thinner (front to back) than a Fiero wing.

Wings similar to the Fiero wing were used on the early 90's full size Thunderbirds.  Mustangs also had a similar wing.  There was a Dodge, maybe the 200. that had a similar one, except it was curved.   The Fiero spoiler design isn't unique to our cars.
