'87 GT for cheap
« on: July 27, 2020, 09:51:57 pm »
Not mine.  I don't know what it is with this month, but Fieros are almost falling out of the sky on me.

This one came to me the long way, but is apparently local to me.

First off, it's been sitting for 15 years, for no particular reason.  No title.  It's filthy.

Here is the info I have:

Quote
It's an 87GT, auto, 119k miles, pretty clean, has Mr. Mike's seats, and has been parked in a garage with a concrete floor for about the last 15 years.  She said the previous owner stopped driving it because they got a newer car and just ...stopped 🤷‍♂‍

Someone in the area offered them $350, and they believe it's worth more (even without the title).  I told her they could potentially get more like $500-$1000, but even more if they could find the title and cleaned it up (but they don't seem interested in putting any effort into it).

There is contact info.

Dang! That's not a bad looking car. Stored on concrete should have helped keep any rust issues at bay. At least I think it would.

What is the situation with getting a title for it in Mizzou?

EDIT: That looks like a solid car! Mr. Mikes seat and a good dash.

What would the rocker switches right in front of the cig lighter be for?

Well, someone recently went through this, for an estate sale.  He said it was a pain, but it did come through.  That guy titled the car in Illinois, so also out of state.

Seat heaters?

Thats what I though of too. Would that be a factory thing? I've never seen those in a Fiero.

Possibly a few hundred dollars to change fluids and seals, a few days of work doing that, and a few more dsys doing a detail, plus $500 or so for the car, plus some time getting the title straightened out, and it might be good to go.  I suspect the mounts and bushings would all be shot, and it would certainly need tires.

Say, $3K.

In Georgia, a bill of sale would suffice to get it titled.  That's all I needed on my 2nd 85GT.  I had DMV run the VIN before I started to put any money into it, planning to part it if I couldn't get a title.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers
