Charlie's back was hurting, and he had to bend over to ease the pain. He was a real trooper to go on the run in spite of this, and to help me when my car died.

You may have noticed in this picture that the passenger side exhaust outlet is hanging kind of low. The hanger broke. Perhaps that was a harbinger of things to come.


Yeah, that's why I've been replacing anything that looks the least bit iffy.  All the exhaust hardware was replaced on the '84.

Considering what happened to my transmission, could that patch of pavement at 1:08 have contributed to the problems with your transmission?

Did you manually downshift, at all, during the run?
