Looking for which model Fiero...
« on: December 16, 2020, 05:10:18 pm »
So there are two front bumpers I’ve seen. The one like on my 88 that slopes forward and the other that is boxier and slopes back at the bottom. What model and or year had the boxier nose and v6? Also can the boxier nose fit on my 88 base? If so does anyone have one I’d want to trade?

I think there are 3 different noses: bumper pad (84-86), the aero nose(85-88GT, 86SE), and the couple nose (87-88). Charlie will be along shortly with more information

The one that sticks out is the aero nose.

If you want an aero nose, you need to get one for the '88.  X87 may also have the round trim.

Scott is correct.  There are 3 style bumpers.  If you want the bumper pad type, there's one in the parts barn.  It was saved by previous persons from whom we acquired the parts, so it's probably usable.  It's white.

There may be some differences in fascia support pieces, and there is a difference in the beltline trim at the front marker light.  I think it's something to do with the length of the marker light and/or the little black piece that's on the fascia.  Ribbed molding was used on all 84s, 85s, and the 86SE and 87SE.

Steve can probably clarify the difference in the moldings at the front marker lights.  I think the 88, the black molding piece is removable from the front fascia while others are a cast part of the fascia.

3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

All the rounded molding arrow pieces are removable.  Some front fascias had the rounded molding on their entirety.

Yes.  The 87 and 88 coupe and Formula had molding that wrapped all the way around the front fascia.  The bumper pad front fascias also had the black molding that wrapped all the way around.

88 Fiero Formula  http://www.californiaclassix.com/garage/c1216.html

While I was scanning down through the Formula pictures, I noticed that they lifted it by the rocker panels and coolant tubes.

So what does it take to put the 85 pad on the 88? Or not worth the trouble?

All the fasteners are the same.  The eggcrate underneath should be the same.  There might be a couple of metal braces that are different, but should bolt on without mods.
