July update

Rainy and thunderstorm weather is in the forecast for most of this week and into next week.  I have minor surgery on the 22nd, so at the earliest, I won't be able to do anything until the 26rh or later.  This can be done any time in August, if needed.  Maybe even do a small group outing on a Saturday, stopping at the Cornucopia in Cashiers for lunch.

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

The scouting run for the alternate road will be August 7.  We will meet at the RaceTrac which is at the first traffic light on I-985, just north of Gainesville.  We will depart at 10AM.  We should be back into Atlanta about 4 or 5.

The official address of the RaceTrac is 2410 Cornelia Hwy, Gainesville, GA 30501.

The road we checked out had good curves, but was kind of bumpy. Bur nobody lost a wheel, though.
We had intended to eat at the Cornucopia restaurant in Cashiers, NC, but there was a line out the door. (It's that good.) That was our lunch spot in a previous RFTH, so if we use it again, we'll certainly have to reserve seats.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

This road did have a short span where it was rough, but there were no potholes or broken pavement.  It's a much better road than the one originally incorporated into the route, and will be used in the September event.

Another benefit of using this road is that we have to travel a little further on what's already a fun road.  It does add some time in getting to our lunchtime restaurant, so we'll have to take that into account when scheduling with them.
