While driving along the Parkway, you can tell if the trees have Covid.  It makes the Dogwoods Bark.   ;D
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Only trees with black leaves seem to have been affected.

Black leaves is usually a sign of tree anthrax.

Not sure if I can make the scouting run - but almost 100% certain will do the RFTH event in September.  It is possible I could meet up with everyone somewhere along the way for the scouting run.  I'll see what I can do.

Our northernmost point is our lunch stop in Canton, NC.  After that, there's lots of fun road left, but not many miles.  Maybe an hour and a half worth before we reach Asheville.  Getting off I-40 and coming down through Pigeon Forge and picking up US 441 down to Franklin, NC would let you pick us up at Highlands, NC and be able to make the bulk of the run.  Mileage wouldn't be much different than meeting us in Canton.

Not a bad idea at all.  I think I might be able to make that work!

Are Killboy or any other photo outfits likely to be on this route?

I believe so.  They are taking pictures now also when weather is good, so an April run should be good.

Excellent!

Dunno how good the weather is.  My outdoor thermometer froze.  Supposed to be -6, without wind chill.  We had freezing rain, last night.

No.  None of them cover the areas we well be traveling.

Opps...sorry I misunderstood the question.  I thought the question was are they on the Dragon during these months.  My bad.

Wreck It Ralph and I have been discussing the scouting run and the various options we have.

Option 1 will take us from Clayton, Ga. to Asheville, NC.  Option 2 will bring us back to Clayton, Ga.  The routes are the same from Clayton to our lunch and fuel stop in Canton, NC.  At that point Option 1 turns North toward Asheville and Option 2 turns South back to Clayton.

The original plan was to do Option 1 on April 17, then on a later weekend, return direct to our lunch stop in Canton and scout Option 2 back to Clayton.  The revised and updated plan is to do Option 1 on April 17, stay overnight in Asheville, then return via Option 2 on April 18, which would take only 3 1/2 hours from Asheville to Clayton.

If both options can be run in one trip, that frees up a future weekend, and saves some money.
