What we've always done on all scouting runs is to move out at the same time we would start the actual event. That's always been 9 AM so we always ask everyone to be gassed up and depart at 9. By doing that, we can better judge time to make our lunch stop and final destination. Running it on a Saturday also more closely duplicates traffic conditions.
