Fieros on Google Earth?
« on: February 01, 2021, 06:11:05 pm »
While doing something unrelated, today, this idea cropped up.  It would be cool to have Fieros crop up on Google Earth.  Not at houses, but at shopping centers, businesses, and such places.  I looked for my Fiero, a bunch of places, but never saw it.  It occurred to me that maybe, if I drove my Fiero to work more, it would show up more.  I couldn't even find my trucks, though, so maybe not.

I did check for the 35th hotel.  No Fieros.

Has anyone found Fieros places other than residences on Google Earth?

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Does anyone know the schedule for a "refresh" of the photos?

When they first started doing this, I seem to remember seeing my cars outside my house in D-ville.
This was when my gray car was black, and I still had the red one.

I was recently looking at some images from the satellite and the image capture dates ranged from 2016 to 2020.  All were in Georgia.

This is the best answer I found:
Quote
On a very complicated schedule that is decided not very far in advance in some cases.

It’s also done with a real mixture of equipment… several different kinds of satellite, planes of various kinds at various altitudes, drones, and balloons.

One of the biggest causes of schedule variation is the availability of equipment, and the next is the weather. If you miss a booked slot with the platform, you have to wait for the next time.

Sometimes Google is requested to get new imagery after natural disasters and other major events, and the crisis response team will try to make that happen.

Some of the satellite providers allow imaging orders of the form “Get us a shot of this area whenever it is convenient, sometime in the next six months”, and there’s a fair bit of that kind of imagery shot.

You can see the imagery dates in Google Earth, sometimes they’re a bit approximate (this happens mostly with airplane imagery, where Google is only given a range of dates for a whole set of images).

Thanks.  I still haven't taken the time to learn how to do that.

You can see it in the post above, but this is the format:
<open bracket>  url = <URL> <close bracket> <TEXT> <open bracket> <forward slash> url <close bracket>

I spaced it out, but don't use those spaces.

If you want to show how code is done, you can use
forward bracket code backward bracket code example forward bracket forward slash code backward bracket.
Code: [Select]
text for the link
And all you see, using the above example is text for the link. But don't click on it, it's just an example.

My daughter just showed me a picture she took of an 86 or 87 SE at an abandoned house at 101 Cox Road, Jefferson, Ga.  Taken from a little better angle than my link.  I think she walked up to the edge of the field.  Has a small bush growing out through the opening in the nose.  Found the land owner and waiting for a return call.
