Need to borrow a heat gun
« on: November 03, 2021, 03:21:38 pm »
I need to replace a throttle position sensor and the screws have been installed with a thread locker.  It requires at least 130 degrees to break the threadlocker.  Does anyone have a heat gun I can borrow for a few days?

3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

I have an electric heat gun as well as a propane torch. I can bring them to the meet along with the springs you were asking for. Whatever ya need and works for you!

Don't need the torch.  I have one but I don't want to work around a throttle body with a flame.  Somebody bring a heat gun to the meeting.  I have to replace the TPS on my truck.

I haven't ordered the TPS yet, and I'm going to need to wait until the weather's good so I can work outside and also so I can drive the Fiero.

Pat, if your heat gun is at least 1100 watts, can you bring it to the meeting on Saturday?  My TPS won't be here until at least Thursday.  Then I'll have to be sure there's a day or two of no rain so I can drive the Fiero in the event I run into problems.

The wattage isn't on the label, but it gets pretty hot. It's a Black and Decker model 9751 Heat and Strip gun. Not made anymore, but their current model is 1300 watts. I'll put it in my car so I won't forget it.
