3.8 SC swap .

So I really been thinking about doing a 3.8 l supercharged swap. Or the ecotec supercharged swap. Just how much harder is this than the 3.4 l swap I have already done? I want to do the swap to modernize the car. So that I'm able to drive it more. I want to bring  over the 4 speed transmission that comes with those other engines. That way it's more drivable on the highway. but just how much extra work are we talkin compared to the 3.4 swap I have already done. Also what do you think would be the roundabout cost?

The 3.4 swap was just about a remove and replace. Only thing needed was a starter hole drilled right?

The 3.8 swap is very well documented but now you are talking about a much more involved swap..wiring, mounts etc.

The same goes for the Ecotec, which is becoming more popular but not as well documented. This swap will present additional challenges because of that.

Both can be done but cost is always hard to determine. I would wager the ecotec being more expensive than the 3.8.

The ecotec is what I really want to do. Just due to it being much lighter much newer and more versatile with boost applications.but to an extent the same could be said for the 3.8 as long as I can find a supercharged option. I have just found trying to Daily that car is a little bit difficult. As the engine is screaming at me on the highway so I think it is time to put a more modern drivetrain in it so that I can enjoy it more and for many years to come. I know the 3.8 is well-documented once I'm able to source the engine and transmission. I'm sure getting it installed won't be that big of an issue. I guess what I mean to say is I'm assuming there is a lot more electrical and tuning things that are involved that I need to be aware of. So do I need a different ECU?. if I do which one. If not how do I get the Fiero is ECU to communicate with the 3.8. I have also read that there are some complications with getting the transmission to shift properly the Fiero ECU.

You will need all of the electronics (wiring harness, ECU, all sensors, etc) of the 3.8.

If your existing Fiero is an 87 or 88 duke, then a late 95-03 3800 is a good swap choice, because they both happen to use the same AC compressor (V5), located in about the same place by the engine. So making the AC work with your new engine will be simple.
As Scott suggests, be sure to get the harness and associated electronics from the donor car. And if you want to wire it up yourself, you'll find all the info you need on the Sinister Performance website. (Also helpful if you have a car with a swap done by someone else.)

I have something you may be interested in: 4 cyl. from a Pontiac Vibe (I'm told it's a Toyota engine) rebuilt by a race shop with 8.5 to 1 forged pistons & forged rods, turbocharged, intercooled, mounted to a six speed trans with shifter, mounted to an early Fiero cradle with axles & everything. ;-)
Never been installed or started (but was test-fit in a Fiero). The guy spent 4 grand building it: I'm open to offers.
There are a couple of things: it's an egay turbo, & I think it needs a better engine mount in the front.
