Fieros at Carlisle 2022
« on: December 28, 2021, 07:32:25 pm »
Fieros at Carlisle will be on June 23-26 this year, and they are already taking registrations here.
I think there's a discount if you register in the next few days.
If you want to see over a hundred Fieros in one place, this is the event to go to.

I hope we can put a large group together to go this year with no one having mechanical problems.  I believe Joe Doctor has already registered.

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Subscribing to this thread, looks promising!
I should have mine ready by then...pending a workday or two, after being exmained by the resident experts here :).

ps: It was "moving" until I had to take the battery out (it keeps losing power maybe because of miswiring or some other issue), just need to make sure it's safe and reliable on the road.

I'd say check your headlight motors, but your signature indicates you have an 87, so you have the newer motors. I don't know if they can stay on like the earlier motors. Perhaps a stuck fuel pump relay.

Thank you sir...how can I know if the headlight motors stay on? (They get stuck at times)
I used to take the car out for a spin within the community, a mile or so everyday, but if I let it sit a few days, or when the engine's off, if I run the a/c or radio for a short few mins, or keep the headlights on, it won't start.

The 87/88 motors won't stay energized.  There are two safety functions in their module.  One is timed, the other is resistance.

I would look at a trunk light or as Pat suggested, the fuel pump relay.  Put your phone on video, stand it inside the trunk and close the lid.
Alternately lift and press on the lid, then check the video.  You can unplug the harness for the oil pressure sender to see if that resolves the problem.  Sending units sometimes stick and keep the relay energized.  You should be able to hear the pump run. You may have to take a length of hose, lay down on the ground and place one end at the tank and the other to your ear if the pump is quiet.

How old is your battery?

Jennifer of MAFOA reports that the event hotel is almost completely booked. Alternate hotels are listed on their website. If you're going, get your room now.

Apologies for the delay Sir. I will find that out  weekend. (It came with the car, I think the seller just used something old and temporary to get it running).

Not going to make Carlisle this year.  Rates are too high.  Even with discounts, $176 plus taxes.  Looks like it will be the Power Tour for me, this year.

Not sure you want to make the effort, but have you looked at the surrounding areas for hotel prices? Staying at the evet hotel is expensive but the outskirts are not too bad. With that said, this event has started picking a lot of steam of the last few years for sure.

I won’t be able to make it this year…my daughter picked the 25th to get married and I am not sure me missing for this event would endear me much in her eyes :)
