Whodeanies customs now in a shop
« on: February 09, 2010, 11:09:16 am »
Hi, all
I just wanted to let all of you know that as of yesterday I got a shop. I will be starting to move things in and get it set up this weekend.
the shop is in woodstock of hwy 92. the best part of the deal is that where I am I have a custom painter in the building in front and an upolstery shop behind and I have worked with them in the past and they both do great work.
I welcome all of you to come by anytime, and I am always looking for new work no matter how big or small. I will work on anything with wheels and a motor.
some of the things I have going now are my DD, Claytons Diablo (long build!) Bens 355 more work inside and a top along with about 6 clasic 60's cars as long tearm projects. I will always have room for anything any of you need. I will also be devlopeing some parts for sale, I will keep you posted as I get farther along.
you can contact me via email for the fastest responce.
thanks all, Dean

Hey, not that I am in the market, but with some of the conversions and rebodies, have you ever thought about a removable hardtop?

I had not thought about that one, I think it would be a bit heavy just because of the size of it.
but you never know.

It probably would, but Mercedes did it with their little 2-seater.  It could be removed for displays at car shows, or left at home for sunny day drives.  Coincidentally, I just saw a thread about a Fiero hardtop on Pennocks, this morning.  It's in a junkyard.

That reminds me of the time Linda and I were at the club meeting, and I decided to take off the t-tops for the drive home. Well, it started raining. We found out that as long as you keep going fairly fast, you don't get wet. But traffic doesn't permit keeping going. We had to stop at a gas station with covered pumps to put the tops back on. If you had a removable top that was left home, you couldn't do that.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

I used to do that with my 62 Impala SuperSport Convertible.  Back seat passengers, however didn't enjoy the protection the airflow afforded the front seat occupants.  You're right, you couldn't.  But it didn't stop Mercedes from producing them for years and years.  I believe Miata also has a removeable top, as did the 55-57 T-Bird.  Now, if it he could somehow steal the design that Pontiac used on the Fiero hideaway hardtop, and do it like the 58 and 59 Ford Galaxy, that would be the cats meow

after the cars get moved in I am getting back on the DD to finish up a few things on it so it can go to paint and be put back together in time for Daytona.

I am going to try to make the meeting this weekend as well, as long as the weather holds out  ::)

The last forecast I saw said rain early AM, then in the 50's for the afternoon on Saturday.

Guys,
I will not be able to make the meeting this weekend.  with all that is going on around here with the new shop and the glass shop I have been covered up. I only have a few weeks to finish the DD in time for the parade and Daytona and this weekend will be the first time I will have to get back to work on it in 2 weeks. I have to get it painted and back together in time so it will be late nights for me till I get it done because I am working on other things all day.
I will keep you posted, save me a place at the parade.

Well the DD is almost done with paint and I only have a few more things to finish on it so it looks like I will make the shows.
in other news I will be getting things set up in the new shop this week. I have to go pick up 2 cars that I will be working on today.
if all goes to plan I will be at the shop full time.

That is the plan  ;D then off to Daytona.
I have a few more parts to go on the car but I can start putting the car back together now.

on another note I was able to get the lights at the shop working yesterday so I will be setting it up this week. I have a few cars that I will be working on so my DD will be done at night and weekends.
