New Double Din Prototype Skeleton
« on: February 28, 2022, 04:03:36 pm »
Got myself a prototype skeleton for double din that is above the HVAC. I will be trying it out and reviewing it here soon. Stay Frosty!

Do you still want the 3D skeleton I have for review?

2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

I can certainly do a review of it and check fit and what not. I got this one because I really wanted to swap the radio and hvac controls around. Shoot me a message and let's discuss it.

I wasn't sure if you posted it in the original post, but is there a general sample review of this stuff? Like, what to consider, how to properly 'test' these and if there's a proper template/format to do the reviews in etc.,

Just compare to an original, assemble, install, and write an opinion.  If I cant get a taker I'm sending it back.

Before you send it back let me know. The Fiero is pretty low down the project list at the moment but I can assemble install and review.

If you guys can be at the meeting, I'll bring it.  Then we can decide which wants to review it.

WHAT'S A FESO???

lol, I'm in that phase where I'm allocating a lot of mental resources, time and creative juices to coming up with a vanity license plate  :D ;D
(Maybe I should start a separate thread, if we don't have one already?)

I am seriously thinking about ordering the "double din" version of this.
Already have a radio on the shelf. Came out of my Silverado.

Jason, do you know if there's any wiggle room in the vertical placement. Obviously, they are designed to flip the HVAC and the radio, but I wonder how "flexible" the placement is. Or maybe the "flexibility" is a function of the mounting brackets on the radio. (I might be making a mountain out of a molehille.)

And one of my favorite vanity plates that I've ever seen was on the back of a beat-down 240Z, on I-20. "SLEEZ" :D

There isn't much wiggle room, but as long as the radio is a double din it "should" fit.

I can bring the double din with me to the meeting. You can bring your radio and you can see for yourself. I don't have an extra hvac control to bring though. This would give you an idea.

Gotcha. Thanks! I may take you up on that, if you are going to be there. If not, no big...

Or you could swing by Senoia with your radio...  ;)

That's also a possibility. I've also got a faceplate that I need to make sure will fit.
