RFTH # 28 SCOUTING RUN
« on: January 20, 2023, 12:24:41 pm »
RUN FOR THE HILLS #28
Get ready fans, we're already gearing up for the 2023 Run For The Hills #28.  The starting location is currently planned to be Clayton, Georgia, located in the northeast corner of Georgia on US 441.
We plan to do a trial or scouting run on April 15.  Scouting runs are traditionally just a one day event, so no hotels are needed.  The day is much less structured than the main event in September so if there's a stretch of road you really like, you can drive it several times to your liking.
Stay tuned here and on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/GeorgiaFieros

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

A new starting and ending point is now tentatively planned for Clarkesville, Ga.  This is depending upon how the scouting run proves.

The current theme of the run is Lakes and Waterfalls.  North Georgia and the area of North Carolina we will be visiting is filled with lakes, rivers, and waterfalls, some of which can be seen from the proposed route.

Revisions to the scouting run are still happening.  Instead of starting in Clarkesville, we will begin at 9 AM at the Hampton Inn, Cornelia.
161 Market Corners Drive, Cornelia, GA 30531

This may be our host hotel for the event.

HarryT, we're going to be all around your neighborhood.  Down through Walhala, Westminister and Toccoa and you're there.  I hope to see you on the scouting run.

This won't be part of the scouting run, but we have been in talks with an automobile museum to give our people a private tour on the evening of September 22.  There is a nominal charge because the museum will be closed to the public at that time and only Run For The Hills participants will be allowed inside.  Friday night only at 6 PM is what we're discussing.

We will be having lunch overlooking Lake Toxaway spillway and falls on US 64, then heading north to loop back to Highlands.  From there you could continue with us down Hwy 28 into SC and Walhalla.

Does anyone have a drone that could go along on the scouting run?  I'd like to have some aerial pictures for the RFTH 28 Tshirt.  I already have an image, but I would like a different angle.

I have a drone. Been working on the brakes on my car, west coast fiero pulled through and I got my parts. I’m hoping to be ready and the car tested in time for Saturday.

Great.  If the Fiero isn't ready don't you have an MR?

You've been on the runs before.  How does it handle the curves?

It handles decent, not bad for FWD but has cheap tires and rear drums. I’ll probably take it if the Fiero isn’t ready. I just put new brakes on it front and rear and it’s got performance pads up front.

Fiero, I got the brakes all put together yesterday but when I started it there was a leak. Got on it again this evening and 1 of the hoses out back wasn’t tight, tightened and been bleeding and checking all the hoses to make sure they’re tight.
