Double DIN radio Help
« on: February 20, 2023, 08:11:04 pm »
Hi everyone,

If you saw at the last meeting I've been working on creating a factory looking center console bezel for the radio and HVAC controls that fits a double DIN radio with Jason. I've attached a couple images below. I'd like to start selling these in the near future but there are a couple things I need to nail down before I get to that point. First is how to adapt the rectangular radio hole to all double DIN radios. The radio Jason provided to me had a slightly different sized screen than another radio he got, and so the new radio does not fit properly. I was curious if anyone here knew if new radios come with plastic bezel adapters out of their boxes or something like that. The second thing I have to work out is mounting brackets. I'd need a center skeleton to take measurements off of so that I can print or fabricate metal radio brackets so that I can make this kit as close to "plug and play" as possible. If anyone is willing to help me out, please reach out to me here or via email at winstonxiao9200@gmail.com. Thanks a lot everyone!

I have an old skeleton... somewhere.
What do you need?  Measurements, or the skeleton?

Preferably the skeleton so I can get measurements myself , but I only need to borrow it for measurements. I won’t be using it in my car or destroying it

At the last Carlisle show, I won at auction one of those 3D printed console skeleton sets. All the screw holes are in the factory position. I could bring it to the next meeting (assuming I don't get some disease like COVID that would keep me away).
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

I would really appreciate that if you did

No radio, double din included, are created equal. They are all going to vary a bit in sizes. Thats the hard part in making a one size fits all piece.

Which is why they come with those annoying sliding brackets that fall off or just get in the way while securing the unit.

I looked for the removable nose piece/shim that I thought I had. I think it's installed in my car. Sorry.
