The election for the 2011 Board of Directors is coming up. We need to elect our new Board before the December 2010 meeting. Anyone willing to hold one of the 5 Director positions please make yourself known on this thread prior to the November 13th meeting. We especially need someone to hold the Secretary/Treasurer position since Pat has indicated he is willing to hold another position.
Responsibilities of the Directors is to select and appoint the club officers and to be a watchdog over them to assure that the President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer run the club as you want. There are no required meetings to attend, and you can remain in the background if you wish. Because we are an incorporated club, we must have the board. If there aren't enough willing to serve on the board, the club will fold. Board members may also serve as club officers, but it's best to have different people in the two functions.
Everyone is eligible to hold a seat on the Board of Directors. You do not have to be a current member, however only paid members may vote to elect the Board of Directors.
You may cast your vote in person, or by mail or email, but your ballot must be received prior to Midnight, December 10th.
ELECTION-BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The By-Laws of the Georgia Fiero Club specify that the Board of Directors elect the Officers of the club, instead of the general membership electing those officers.
The 5 members of the Board of Directors are elected by the paid members in good standing. Those Board Members then elect the 4 Officers of the club. Those officers being Club President, Club Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. The Officers will then be installed at the first business meeting of the new year.
All persons are eligible to hold office in the Georgia Fiero Club. You do not have to be a paid member to be a candidate for office, however, if you are elected to office, you must then begin paying yearly dues.
If you wish to serve as a member of the Board of Directors, please submit your name prior to the November 13th business meeting. If you wish to be considered for a particular position, please indicate that position. Candidates names will be posted on the Georgia Fiero Message Board in this thread.
All paid members in good standing have the opportunity to participate in the voting for the election of the Board of Directors. This ballot must be returned to Pat Swayne, Club Secretary/Treasurer, before Midnight December 10th. All ballots will be counted at that time. This method will give all paid members the opportunity to cast a vote, even though they might not be able to attend the meeting. You may cast a total of 5 votes
