Fiero Overhaulin' at Whodeanie's
« on: November 13, 2011, 10:19:04 am »
John Harbour, aka Johnnyrottin has initiated an Overhaulin' of a Fiero to help someone who's in some difficulty.  He's told me that he hoped some of the Georgia Fiero members would get involved.  Yesterday at the meeting, I spoke of this project and several of you said you would help out.  Rather than try to explain everything, here's his original thread on Pennocks.  You can keep abreast of what's happening by monitoring it.  Feel free to post any information on here, too.  Some of the GFC members don't frequent Pennocks.

Thanks.

I have been following this along on Pennocks.  Hopefully the dates will work for me to go assist.  I have a daughter in Cheerleading whose competitions might conflict.  Fingers crossed that the dates work for me!

The date for the Overhaulin' At Whodeanie's is January 7 and 8.  There are people coming in from all over the country to help out with this rebuild.  I just read that one guy's coming down from New Hampshire, and others are coming up from Florida.  There are more people from out of state than live in Georgia that are flying/driving in to help out.  Are we going to be outnumbered by outsiders?  This is for a good cause.  Give up that TV football game or the afternoon snooze and let's get the Georgia Fiero Club up there to help out.  You've got nearly a month to make your plans.  No Excuses.

If nothing else, once we see the "needed items" list, I'd drive around and pick up anything our members might be able to donate to take up to Dean's place.

Edit to add information:

New thread on Pennock's:

Saw that Raydar and Fierofool have alredy offered to pick up and haul parts up to Woodstock.
Nevertheless, my offer also stands

I believe Dean is installing a V6 for him, and plans to have that done before the build date.  I will be coming for the weekend (Sharon will likely be dragged along), and have two 84 parts cars that I can grab parts from once we get a parts list.

Now the real question is....do I count as a GFC person, or one of the out-of-towners that you are trying to outnumber?

Greg, you're usually more a part of the GFC activities than some of the locals are.

I will be posting up the list by monday of the parts we still need. for now I could use an engine harness for a 6 cyl. for the swap ASAP! we plan on doing the swap prior to the weekend so Aaron can get it wired without 50 people in the way, he is funny like that  :D

I do know it will need......

cradle mounts
antifrezze
oil
filters
motor and trans mounts
calipers of rebuild kits
roters would be good
we have SS lines already
the ebrake has issues be not sure what yet.
the body and inside are in fair shape but will need a bit of work.

I will get it on the lift today to see what else it will need.

we have all the tools here that will be needed as well as a tone of parts I will donate to the car so the bigest thing will be extra hands and any goodies you might like to add to the car for a great cause. I am also working with a paint shop to see if we can get it painted here as well if we can do the prep I have a booth we can get and I can spray it.

I don't recall seeing Dean post here. I'm sure he won't mind the quote.

1st...waiting on the parts list.
2nd...You can be counted as both. When you have a Fiero, you're family. ;D

I second that ;D

I'll be there too, regardless if I can help or not.
If nothing else, I'll provide good hot coffee and make sure I don't get in anyone's way :-)

I'm gonna be there... think my daughter (Dakotah) about had a heart attack when I said I was going... she was like I have practice for cheer Sat and Sunday... I said well you and you mom can go and I can go to Dean's... I said if you want to go we can go up after cheer if its early on Saturday.  She said "what?"  "ummm no I'm not going to a car shop all day with Fieros"  LOL!  So Patty said, "well if there is a mall nearby we can go over there for a bit."  Dakotah then said "and shop all day... ummm no!"  The funny thing, if we just said we were going to sit around all day and do nothing she would be board to tears and want to go some place, any place... LOL!

So looks like its just me.  Who knows maybe if cheer is early enough I can drag Patty along... Dakotah can go hang with a friend... LOL!

Dean, in your parts request, you said you wanted a radio with CD.  I have a late model Grand Prix radio, but it only has cassette.  Will that do?

This is the latest happening on the Overhaulin' project.  It is taken from the thread on Pennocks, posted this morning by Johnyrottin, the spearhead of this project.
