Since Fathers' Day is tomorrow, here's an idea.
I like my chair. I got it used (from a deceased relative), because I couldn't find another like it new. This chair rocks, reclines, swivels, and leans. When this chair is reclined, it cannot rock or lean. I removed the cloth from the recline lever, had the chair cleaned, and replaced the broken plywood base/swivel with a metal one. Unfortunately, the new swivel base says it only supports 300 pounds. That seems a bit low.
If you can find such a chair (not mine), I highly recommend it. My chair unfortunately does not have pockets in the arms. So, no cup holders. This chair replaced my rally chair and my papasan chair. My only complaint is that the fabric used to upholster the chair is corduroy. If the fabric gets worn, I'll widen the arms, add pockets, and have the chair re-upholstered with leatherette.
I have a sectional chair that is a corner piece, overstuffed, reclines, and has huge arms, but it is HUGE. The back has several bends, but is about 9 feet wide. When my kids were younger, they used to sit on the arms while I read to my kids. Heck. The arms are as wide as kitchen chairs. There are 11 pieces to the sectional, and they take up an entire corner of the room. This other chair only takes up a regular chair worth of space, except when reclined.
Possibly, the chair could be raised a bit. Maybe 2 inches. I may see about adjusting the mount for the base.
