I can pick them up and get them to Don, or maybe Jerry could come by on his way up and get them from you?  Try Jerry, and if he can't, let me know.  I'll need to pick them up before 12 because I've got to be back home for the pharmaceutical rep by 3.

The vert is alive....finally.  Seems to be running great, but still need to wrap it up (put the center console back in...decklid back on...finish burping the coolant...etc).  We get new tires at 10am tomorrow morning, then will head down there in the afternoon.  I have run it long enough to go into closed loop, but that is about it.  I am a little nervous about doing this trip on such an untested system...but, I have backup plans in place.

Everyone be sure to get your route sheets on Friday and study them before we have the meeting on Saturday morning.  Due to illnesses, we don't have enough for more than one per car, so if you're carrying a passenger, one should suffice.

Did you ever get an approximate headcount?

No, I didn't.  There will be some there who haven't commented, and a few are bound to drop out at the last minute due to unforseen circumstances.  It looks like we've got about 30 sets, but when I come back from Atlanta tonight, I'll stop by Pat's and pick up the other 20 he printed and put them together.

Roger, get out there and be the official Meeter-Greeter.

Just a quick update ...we are on the way, and Trinten is right behind us.  We just passed Asheville.  We plan to stop for dinner in Franklin at a restaurant we found at RFTH14.

I loaned FieroFool my car to get up and back to the RFTH drivers meeting on Saturday.  He phoned to say that everything went fine, but that he had a little fender-bender when parallel parking at the starting point. He assures me that it will buff out with no problem!

About two hours later, he called again to mention some sort of

Let me be the first to comment on yesterdays fun day.  We were only able to do the last half of the run but had a great time.  We only got separated a few times, but we all managed to make it to the finish.  Charlie, we all really missed you and hope you and Mel will be able to get back on the road again soon.
When everyone gets settled I hope someone can email some pictures as we forgot to bring our camera.
Thanks all for the great day and accepting us as new friends;

First let me say Thank You to every single one who had attended and made it such a great success. Nobody broke down (not even me ;)), no casualties and we found out that we are really good at making u-turns ...lol.
Our daughter Shanine who was my co-pilot got somehow bored (hm, maybe I do need a bigger enginge) abbandoned me and jumped into Deans car. Seems like it she had more fun driving with Dean then with me ... grrrrrrowl.
We met new friends and hope that we're staying in touch.
Charlie .. all of us missed you and I am sure that with you we all wouldn't have had to do one single u-turn ;)
But we are all glad that Mel is doing better and there will always be another time.

ROFL @ pictures Tim  ;D :D ;D

Harry, Karin,
We are glad you made it, even if it was only for the second part of the run. We enjoyed your company tremendously and hope we will see you again soon.

To everybody else that participated: AWESOME DAY! Had a lot of fun, and we obviously had good fortune too, no major issues, no breakdowns, nobody got seriously lost. We can easily forget about some of the wrong turns some of the people made! ;D

All in all a great event, thanks to Charlie, who once again found a great route for us and we had a good number of participants show up.

I'd also like to thank all the people who participated in our raffle after the run. I certainly had fun doing that, although I'm a bit skeptical about our daughter's ethics. Too many prizes seemed to go to the same people too many times! (We'll have somebody else volunteer to draw the tickets at the next event) ;D
All kidding aside, I'm happy for the people who cleaned up at the raffle and am sorry for the ones that left empty handed. Better luck next time! The raffle did generate good funds for our coffers, which will help continue to fund events like this and we really appreciate it. I just wish Charlie, Kevin and Pat could have attended; they would have had a blast just like we did!

Harry and Karin, glad to have you join the group.  Ramon, Frank, Lou, Alex, Trinten, good to have you guys, too.  Darrel and Janice, where were you?

Where did people make the wrong turn?  Let me know so I know how to make my route sheets clearer, though we did have some production problems this year that may have added to some confusion.

I'd like to thank the members of the scouting runs and our sponsors who donated products and services to the event.  We all understand that current national economic conditions have taken much of our discretionary income so your participation in the raffle is appreciated more than you know.  Don, thank you for helping Kevin in contacting vendors and for stepping up and taking the helm for the raffle.

I may have missed the run and the fun of doing it with the group, but we can always do a rerun and I'll include some of the other roads I scouted out, just for some variation.  Maybe 3rd weekend of October?

I get to have my desert first.  That being the scouting and laying out.  Then I enjoy the main course last--the fun that everyone had doing the run.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for Mel.  She's home and doing well.

Got in about 2:30 this afternoon.
Decided to sleep in, this morning, since I have to be up and semi-lucid by 5:30, five days a week.
Thanks to all who blazed the trail, this year. Especially to those who were unable to make the run. (Charlie, Pat and Kevin.)
It was a great course, and the relatively short mileage allowed us time to sit and socialize and "bench race" during the food and fuel stops, and still make it back in plenty of time for the dinner and raffle.
It was good to see/meet all the folks who I only knew by a screen name, until now.
I was also very happy to see a lot of faces whom I haven't seen in quite a few years.

Here are a handful of photos...

Lunch

Back on the road.

The first fuel stop

What I see when I'm watching the road, instead of watching the road.

Jerry's navigator.

I didn't get any real "action" photos, since I didn't have a navigator, and my hands were full most of the time, driving and watching our designated turns go by as we went screaming past. :D  (I was to blame for at least one of those...)
